Our Practice

A neighborhood practice, run by one family for another

Since 1998, we have grown up alongside the families we care for. Here is who we are, and why so many people have stayed with us for decades.

Since 1998

It started with one dentist and a small waiting room

Dr. Carol Whitfield opened Acorn Hill the year her own children were in grade school. She wanted a practice that felt less like a clinic and more like a visit to someone who knew your name. Warm wood, soft light, real conversations, and the smell of good coffee in the morning.

More than twenty-five years later, that has not changed. What has grown is the family. Carol's son, Dr. Ben Whitfield, joined her in the chair after dental school, and many of the children Carol first saw now bring their own kids through our door.

The dentists

A mother and son, side by side

Two dentists who genuinely like their patients, and who plan to be here for a long time.

Dr. Carol Whitfield

FOUNDER · GENERAL & FAMILY DENTIST

Carol founded Acorn Hill in 1998 and still loves a first visit with a nervous four-year-old as much as the day she started. She is known for her steady hands, her patience, and for telling you the truth even when it means doing less.

Dr. Ben Whitfield

GENERAL & FAMILY DENTIST

Ben grew up around the practice and joined his mom after dental school. He has a gentle touch with kids and teens, a soft spot for Invisalign, and the same plain-spoken honesty he learned at the front desk as a boy.

Behind them stands a front-desk and hygiene team you will get to know by name, many of whom have been with us for over a decade.

What we believe

The promises behind every visit

Unhurried

We build real time into every appointment. You will never feel like we are rushing you out the door.

Honest

We recommend only what you need. If watching and waiting is the right call, that is what we will say.

Kind

From the front desk to the chair, we treat every patient the way we would want our own family treated.

“We are not trying to be the biggest dental office in town. We just want to be the one your family trusts for the next twenty-five years.”

The building & the neighborhood

A front porch, not a waiting room

Our office sits in a quiet, leafy corner of Brightwood, in a building that feels more like a well-kept home than a clinic. Warm wood, soft chairs, big windows, and yes, good coffee. Parking is easy and the door is on the ground floor.

We are the kind of place where the hygienist remembers your dog's name and the dentist asks how the new baby is sleeping. That is on purpose.
