How insurance usually works

A plain-English guide to what's covered

Every plan is a little different, but most dental insurance sorts care into three buckets. Here is the rough shape of it.

~100%

Preventive

Checkups, cleanings, and routine x-rays are usually fully covered. This is the care that keeps everything else small.

~80%

Basic

Fillings and simple extractions are typically covered around 80%, leaving a modest share for you.

~50%

Major

Crowns, bridges, and dentures are usually covered around half. We will always show you the exact number first.

Plans also have a yearly maximum and a deductible, which we factor in for you. Whatever your plan, we file the claim and confirm your share in writing before anything begins.

If insurance isn't enough

Three simple, honest ways to pay

For anything insurance does not fully cover, here are your options — laid out plainly, never pushed.

5% off

Pay in full

Settle on the day of treatment and take 5% off. The simplest path — no paperwork, no interest.

0% APR

Three monthly payments

Split larger treatment evenly across three months at zero interest and no fees. We set it up at the desk.

12 months

Longer financing

Spread the cost up to 12 months, interest-free, through CareCredit. A soft credit check, with no impact on your score.

No insurance?

The Acorn Hill Savings Plan

A simple yearly membership for patients without insurance. Two cleanings, two exams, and your annual x-rays are included, plus 15% off any other treatment. No claim forms, no deductibles, no waiting periods.

Insurance, answered honestly

We are in-network with most major plans, including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, UnitedHealthcare, and BlueCross. Use the checker above for a quick answer, or just tell us your plan when you book and we will confirm before your visit.
No. We file every claim on your behalf and handle the back-and-forth with your insurer. You only ever pay your share, and we tell you what that is up front.
You are still very welcome. Ask about our in-house savings plan, a simple yearly membership that covers your routine visits and gives you a fair rate on everything else. We also offer monthly payment plans for larger treatment.
Never. You get a written estimate with your insurance applied before any treatment begins. What we quote is what you pay, with no add-ons at the desk. That is a promise.
A deductible is a small amount you pay before your plan starts chipping in each year. An annual maximum is the most your plan will pay in a year. We keep both in mind when we plan your care, so nothing catches you off guard.
